Dear Tourism Partners:   As we turn our efforts from relief to recovery, I ask for your assistance in helping the Department of Tourism complete a full assessment of our tourism product in order to develop the appropriate messaging to share with our off-island travel partners and the media.

On Tuesday, October 3, the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands/Department of Tourism coordinated the final mercy missions out of the Territory. We thank our cruise partners, including the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean Cruises as well as our airline partners Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, JetBlue Airways and American Airlines. Together, we were able to evacuate close to 5,000 residents and visitors who were impacted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Cyril E. We would like to advise that Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, which departed St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon, will arrive in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday morning. The cruise ship is carrying more than 1,400 residents and visitors from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Passengers are expected to disembark around 8 a.m.

The Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands continues to work with its airline partners to secure additional mercy flights from St. Thomas and St. Croix.

The Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands would like to bring to the community’s attention false information being circulated on social media about this weekend’s mercy cruise evacuation from our Territory. One such post purports that you can email Royal Caribbean Cruises directly to secure a spot on the vessel. This is categorically false. Additionally, there is no online registration for this cruise. Anyone who registered using a Google Form that has been circulating will not be accommodated on the basis of that registration.
